Hey all,
As I've produced a few unofficial guides for this already, I've managed to have a real chance to play around with it.
* A segmented run is easily the way forward (although mad props to anyone who attempts the 3-save only Hardcore difficulty level on a speed run!). You can only have 20 segments/saves per profile, so if you want to have totally seperate saves throughout use the Hard Drive and 2 separate memory cards/units/USB sticks.
* You can beat the very last boss in under 60 seconds with a fully upgraded Javelin Gun (in fact, you can beat it on Zealot difficulty from a new game only 3/4 upgraded. The key is having the Alt-Fire mode upgraded to it's special ability). This when combined with Stasis packs and Health packs allows you to totally kick the ass of what can otherwise be a real friggin pain in the arse to beat.
* The quickest way to beat the Brutes are to drop a mine a bit in front of them, then freeze them so they run into it. On Casual/normal a fully upgraded mine will suffice, on Zealot you'll need 2 - 3 un-upgraded mines to kill it.
* Some rooms require you to kill everyone before you can proceed, but not all of them. Learning which doors are always blue and open will be essential (E.g. In Chapter 13 you should run down the 2 sets of red rooms that lead to the Brute encounter at the bottom. You can use a few stasis shots to buy you enough time to ignore the crazy amount of enemies in here!
I've managed to complete the game from scratch on a new profile on Zealot difficulty in the following time (proof attached below): 5hrs 14mins and 30secs according to the cleared file timer. So running a casual difficulty run for example will be a cinch (and doing so on a NG+ should be blisteringly fast).

I'm looking forward to either running or seeing a run of this bad boy in action.
