"Note: Runs on the main game (72 hour mode) are not allowed because there is no way to beat the game more quickly. "
Actually, the 72 hour mode can be completed in a number of different ways. Most of which take 6+ hours. HOWEVER, you can indeed finish the game faster than that. The record is 4 hours and 34 minutes. By using a separate ending, and minimizing load screens, you can in fact beat this mode in a faster way than 6 hours.
For this reason, I think runs of this mode should be accepted.

Reminder that Dead Rising is the most exciting speedrun to watch
SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
As much fun as it is to watch people who can't log in try and cause trouble, I would like to get an explanation on how this works for the 72 hour mode.

Last I checked, there isn't anyway to speed up the in-game timer, thus everyone would get the same time, even if you stand in place the whole time.  Still, if you can show proof, you might have a better chance (although it might not be by much with all due respect).

Wake up and be awesome
I messed around with possibly any skips just for the fun of it and I'd like to see if this run is indeed possible.

Edit: wait, are you doing the worst ending for this run? No missions?

The fastest ending is Ending F which requires you completing the game up Case 7-2
Fastest ending is to progress in the missions until case 7, and let carlito destroy the mall. Resulting in Ending F.

Well I can't argue about a speed run where you get a bad ending (since SDA has a good number of those) but like I said earlier, it is going to be hard to overturn the established rule.  Still, I wish you luck if you can be able to pull it off.
At the very least, I would appreciate a change in the sda page. You can speed up 72 hour mode by an hour and a half. Its worth noting, at the very very least.
Are we talking about Dead Rising or Dead Rising 2?
Wake up and be awesome
Actually, I think this applies to both games. This thread was made for the original dead rising (Carlito is in the original) the second game has similar traits where I'm sure this is a did unitive fastest ending
I don't see any trick or method to speed up the time in DR2. But I'd like to help to make an optimized route.

If we're just talking about ending F, that's just moving the goalposts but avoiding the core of the problem.  The progress to ending F is still time limited, it's just that you can get access to ending F before the other endings.

Also I don't know what the precedent is for crap non-ending sort of endings... I mean... can I submit a speedrun of Shadow Complex with the "Plenty of Fish in the Sea" ending?
