So, just as I'm about to record my first run (also my first recording ever), I plug in my Dazzle DVC100 Video Creator Plus, and it says "USB Device Not Recognized."

I've had the capture card for about three to four years but never used it because I lost the installation CD...until recently where I found it.  I had the CD installed (Studio 12), and everything was running fine, even the Dazzle was lit-up and ready to go.  Until AFTER I installed the CD the Dazzle suddenly stopped working and hasn't worked since.  I tried installing some of the drivers, which many people have suggested, but I still don't know which exact one to install and what to do afterwards.

I'm currently running Vista 64-bit, but none of that should be an issue, because like I said the Dazzle DID work before I installed the CD (Studio 12)

Help PLEASE, been trying to fix this for ages.

Try this: Uninstall it via the Programs and Features section of the Control panel then install the 64-bit drivers from here: http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/Hardware_Installer/readmeHW10.htm

Double check the device on which model you have to get the correct drivers.

It doesn't install Studio, but Pinnacle's software is awful. You're better off using capture with VirtualDub or the like (see our Knowledge Base on how to capture with that). You will likely have to plug the audio cables into a line-in via a RCA "Y" cable due to Pinnacle's stupid hardware setup.

Uninstall Studio... or ?

And yes, I heard all the buzz about Dazzle, but it's what I got at the moment and I'm currently short on money.  I payed $150 for it so I kinda don't want it to go to waste.  And can you be a little more specific once I download the correct driver?

Uninstall Studio. Download driver, install driver. The install of the download from the link I gave you is pretty straight forward, unless they changed something from when I last got drivers from there.

As for specifics on recording, Knowledge Base will get you all setup nicely.

Last question before I give that a go:

Should I have my Dazzle plugged in while I'm doing this?

Also if it matters, I'm getting tons of errors when I'm uninstalling Studio.

Which is weird because I had no issues during the initial installation.  Sigh.
Didn't work.

Wow, Studio software has completely failed you. I'm sorry man.

Are you running Vista as an admin, or a regular user?

Admin.

And I already went ahead and re-installed Studio, WITHOUT any dl'd drivers installed . . . and it didn't work that way either.

Crazy idea here, but I think it's worth a shot. Reboot the computer and boot into safe mode (press F8 as the computer is booting before the Windows screen appears) and try uninstalling it that way. Windows may be preventing something from uninstalling properly since the file is being used. Hopefully that will help...otherwise I'm running out of ideas. ^^;;
Well I actually already un-installed Studio 12 lol, which is why I said I had it re-installed.

And yeah, I'll just end up calling Avid Support or whatever they're called...

SIGH!
Sometimes doing a clean OS install can fix stuff like this.

I was thinking about it, but sadly, this is the family comp so I'm not the only one risking of losing all my files.
