VERY impressive run!! This was THE run I had been waiting for, and I was checking the site everyday for weeks for the moment the Contra: III on Hard Mode showed up, and there it was! I was impressed all the way through; I'd never seen such a difficult game get beaten with what seemed like not much difficulty. Well done, you've accomplished what many have rarely done!!

Again, as all of your speedruns that I've seen, nice job!

This run is more impressive than the emulator runs since it was only done in one shot, relying on human skill and endurance alone.

Well, how I do it is I use my index finger on the Y button, Middle on the X, and Thumb on the B. Kind of akward way of holding it, but it's still effective.

Also, an easy way to face the Level 2's boss straight into the Red part is to hold R at the VERY begining up until he appears on the screen. By the time he lands, you are directly in front of the red part. Can usually kill him in like 3 seconds.

My feelings on The Demon Rush

I didn't respond in forever because I thought the responses to my run were amusing Grin

In response to the three thumbs comment, I have the top part of my thumb in in the middle of Y and X while I angle the bottom part slightly to the left so I don't hit the A button. Then I simply wiggle my thumb a bunch. I only used Tatsuhiko's method on the final boss (when it uses the stone attack) so I could get more damage out of double crush missiles (put my index on Y and mash the crap out of X with my middle finger).

Tatsuhiko: Thanks for being vague and telling me something I already tried. You think I wouldn't try to just aim directly for the eye?

Could you specify what weapons you used and/or if you used bombs? Now that I think about it, killing the boss before it starts rotating should be possible, I just don't know how.

Congrats Josh Styger. Amazing run. Contra 3 is Very hard game speedrun.

Next: Go try No weapon hard mode less than 3 deaths. This must be see in somedays future. I beat once No weapon easy mode it was easy to beat.

I wasn't that impressed. Not enough diagonal moving on stages 2 and 5, had to go back and kill 2 bunkers, not a very fast 5th boss, took two phases to kill the second to last mini-boss. Some obvious slow-downs to pick up power ups which are easy to avoid. Didn't use warp around to select starting points faster.

I have a run in under 10 minutes Grin

This sounds i really want see new run again. IMO this game are really hard to beat, i just never can even imagine how those peoples can beat game hard mode, without deaths with incredible fast. Shocked

I just watched josh styger run. I just want say this looks really good. He have almost crazy luck against red brain. Can you say Mike how much this your run is better than current WR?

Hi Vgmr. Are you plan redo your Super-C run in future? This is really great run, but it can be done some seconds faster. You will see my PAL run soon this are quite par with your run.
