The cutscenes to this game -are- genuinely funny, but that doesn't mean they should be in a speedrun. Only time matters in the end. Skip anything you can; anything else is more like a plot/casual run.
Yes, everyone should erase their mem card saves for Metroid Prime [2] before doing a run so that they can't skip the cutscenes. Because players love seeing the same cutscene over and over again when they're trying to do a run.
They would count agianst his overall time, yes. =\ But again, that puts everyone at the same dissadvantage.
How comparable are the n64 and xbox versions? Is the xbox version the exact same game, but with beefier graphics and loading times? I think in the n64 you could skip some cutscenes, right?

Whenever I said that I was assuming that everyone who's doing the Xbox version is at the same dissadvantage. And yes, according to the N64 version, any 2nd time or later you can skip the scene by pressing either sholuder button.
I don't own the Xbox version so I have no comment on it, 'cept more than likely it contains loading times. =\
