Dragon Power Supreme
No new times to post as I've got an exam this week so I'll be doing that. Once I'm done with it, I'll go back to Generals and do GLA4, GLA 3 (although it could take a while) and check out China 2 and 4; maybe even be able to speedrun them. I also got my own speedrun to do so...

At any event, TheVoid and I were getting lag during cutscenes (probably due to the AI, which is trying to move all of its forces at once), so I asked Mike for a ruling about the cutscenes:

Quote:
[10:37] <jewyama> if the cutscenes really do cause lag and affect the time
[10:37] <jewyama> then cut them
[10:37] <jewyama> because it's really stupid your time is affected by something so stupid

And since they do, we won't count them towards timing. This is the end of my updates for the next few days on this game. I'll be uploading the videos of China 3 and GLA 4 soon.

Edit:
China 3 -
GLA 4 -

Nice runs Smiley I liked the strategy in GLA 4 with the Tunnel Network. You could maybe use the "deploy from Tunnel Network earlier" trick to get some units there earlier?

About the cutscenes, I guess that'll require some retiming again, then.

O.o

I forgot about that trick. Erm... how do you do it? I forgot Sad New strat had been thought about, however, pretty hard to pull it out smoothly but can probably shave off some good time.
Works pretty much like the SCUD bug, I explained it here.

Sup guys,
I am new to this business but i tried to speedrun C&C: Generals. For now i have only 4 China missions done, but with quite nice results. You may find vids here:

First video is in very low quality, because YouTube hates me. Rest is recorded in HD and 60 fps (i like smooth vids).

Anyway, i've approached game this way...
I do not build HQ. It's useless for now and i do focus mostly on spamming infantry units (faster to train) and push for map goals. For example, in 2nd China Mission, The Hong Kong Crisis, you only have to blow up Convention Center. What i've discovered is if you go for garages first, and then destroy main hall, there's insignificant resistance from GLA.
Third China mission is a bit tricky. I am not entirely sure, but i think it could be faster done with MIG's bombing GLA base. 8-12 should be enough, and with proper upgrade, each building should be taken in one strike.

I am open to suggestions, so if you have any ideas for 5th Chinese mission (where you're cornered in Balykchy) feel free to type.

P.S. Just to remind you i am on Brutal difficulty.

I've been keeping track of the individual mission runs (along with full campaign runs) over at https://www.speedrun.com/cncg/individual_levels for anyone looking for recent attempts. I did add the runs shown in this thread as well as what I gathered from all the missions in the campaign runs, so it's really nailed down some good times. If there's anything I've missed be sure to tell me so I can get them added.

I've opted to use a slightly different timing method; I end the missions on the first frame "YOU ARE VICTORIOUS" appears instead. Waiting on the cursor to disappear, while it sounds good, can be manipulated if the player hides it when the mission is about over, especially so if they move out of the game window. While this can also be done for the start of the mission, a lot of videos begin there, so I've kept it that way.

Oh, and if IsraeliRD and Nihilus registered on the site I can attach your runs to your accounts.
