Hey,

CIA Operative is an obscure little fps running on even more peculiar mixture of quake1 and tech2 engines.

My current PB is 11:05 on easy difficulty.

The game consists of 6 linear missions (and a total of 3 weapons Cheesy ) mostly time-constrained bomb planting stuff.

What makes it really fun to speedrun are Quake 2-ish movement physics with all their strafe, circle and ramp jumping glory.
I haven't found any major skips or glitches worth mentioning as of yet.

I intend to submit a run once I hit sub 10 mins (or give up trying).

And to close up with a question - would it be against the rules to modify the game's mouse acceleration by either directly altering the .cfg file or changing the appropriate variable in the in-game console?

For this sort of low-budget games you will not find many friends here.
I love low-budget games, obscure, so thanks for your work.

File (cfg) manipulation is not allowed.

You have settings for Mouse Sensitivity, in the option menu. I do not know when you have one of the many ripped pirated versions, but the acceleration for the mouse is very easy.

I had also nothing found, the walls are to high and the jump is not high enough. Strafe jump run works, but you already know it. I will return to this game a bit, so searching for glitches and oob's.

good luck, And please read the rules and FAQ pages.
I can verify a run of this game, but something must happen with other thinks first.

Hey, thanks for feedback! Those unknown gimmicky fps are the best games Cheesy

I finally stumbled upon something interesting:

In the first mission the limousine somehow arrived approximately 10 seconds earlier than planned.

My fear is that's because I started new game over without restarting the whole game application and something got messed in the engine - that would put this bug in the new game+ category.
I will give it my fair share of testing and hopefully find out.

I also made a run out of it and set new PB of 10:42 Cheesy

The Casino mission got changed a bit, now I jump straight through laser tripwires just before Boris.

So, I have a glitch-activate for you.

You can jump on opponents (enemy or any other person), than you have a higher platform to jump over walls or something other. It should be not so hard, because the enemy is running on you.

It is better to use the pistol only, it has the same damage like the sniper rifle.

Casino mission was better, yes.

Whoa, that's nice! I wonder what new strategies will be available thanks to this.

The reason I'm using sniper rifle is that when you hold down the scope zoom button you get 100% accuracy even when jumping.
Pistol on the other hand shoots faster at the expense of recoil so it's a gamble, especially at longer distances.

In the meantime I managed to trigger the limousine glitch few times more when starting the game from scratch.

The resulting time is 10:35

Definitely not bad, make fun to watch it. There is not much what you can do. When you try to bring down this run to under 10 minutes, than you should submit your run. Wink I am glad that this game is go out of my list. I had found yesterday a other out of map glitch, in mission 6, but it do not help, because the engine has a stopper-barrier on the walls.

I want to ask, you are speedrun also other obscure fps games ?

I search a test speedrun for the game 'U.S. Most Wanted: Nowhere To Hide'. Do you have this low-budget game ?

You can also ask me for other obscure games, I have a big collection and I think I do not miss one.

Who would've thought Christmas could come this early?

spec discovered a superjump glitch which really pushed things forward.

The very first full attempt using this method landed me a long awaited 9:56

After some research the execution of superjump boils down to:
Code:
1. Jump
2. While falling down press and hold duck
3. Release duck just before you hit the ground
4. Jump again -> if all goes well you will perform a superjump

For additional awesomeness you can stack this beauty - if you manage to make the duck trick again while landing from a superjump you will fly up at least TWICE AS HIGH.

What does it mean for the run?

First of all - in m1 Enrico is history. You can simply superjump the clipped walls over and head straight to the subway.

Construction of mission 2 renders this glitch useless unfortunately.

In m3 turns out you can completely disregard the sentry guns without bothering to turn them off and simply strafe jump through.

Next we got Casino - not much has changed, the mission is head-on as it gets

Compound is where this glitch shines, despite what's shown on the video, there is actually at least one more place where you can skip some obstacles - just after the barrel explosion triggers the gate to open
there is a small room with long stairs - in the vid I traverse the stairs, but one can superjump the badboy just as well. I'm not sure what you can do in the elevator, that'll undergo additional testing.

Last mission presents very little room for manoeuvring - just like Casino.

Over the weekend I'll attempt some 9:3x-9:4x runs and see how much is yet to be cut.
Once again shoutout to spec for his immense help in the making of this run.

Not really obscure, but I have Hexen 2 run put on the hold, but that's a longer term project.
Also, I've looked into Space Trader and it seems fun.

As for the game you're after, unfortunately I haven't heard about it.

Good work Smiley

When we know of this super trick,( thanks spec Smiley ) than we can crack this game.
It is better to make a segmented run, than you can optimise the glitches.
Quick update, i cut down the time to 9:38
Still lots of mistakes but I'm getting better at superjump so that's a plus.

If I manage to get a cleaner run closer to 9:30 I'll probably submit it.
Hello

Here is 9:14 single segment. Sorry for low quality.

There are at least 2-3s of mistakes in every mission, so in perfect run sub 9 should be possible.
I can attest to the sub 9:00 being possible, gj spec!
