Oddworld Speedrun Master!
Later this year I would like to capture the next Abe game called New 'n' Tasty and would like ot know which best capture card I should use and which Microphone I should use for commentary?

At the moment I have a Logitech USB Microphone which is breaking and would like a decent microphone not too expensive for audio commentary and a capture card that can record HD fotoage as New 'n' Tasty is in HD.

What capture card and Microphone would you recommend?
Thread title:
HELLO!
Microphone: The Blue line is solid.  The Yeti I'm told is great if you want something really good and omnidirectional.  The Snowball which I have is better if you want something that will get your voice and as little else as possible.

Capture: Are you talking about just recording, or recording and streaming?  For just recording you're likely better off not recording on your computer, and using some standalone component recorder (or HDMI recorder if you can get an HDCP stripper that works well).

I have and use the Black Magic Intensity Pro for recording game footage. I do not have an HDMI stripper, though, so I am limited to using component cables and 720p. For what I described, it works wonderfully. I plug the PS3 into the capture card via component, and it comes out to my TV via HDMI. (But it could come to the TV via component if I chose to do so.) I personally do not notice any significant input lag using this setup at all.

(I might add that I am not a speedrunner, just an admirer. But I do use my BMIP for my own stuff.)
HELLO!
Yeah I use a BMI Shuttle Thunderbolt to stream component, and previously used it to record component.
I have one of these. Very good if you don't want pass-through.
Willing to teach you the impossible
I use a Black Magic Intensity Pro. Was a slight pain learning how to get it working, but once I learned all the things it looks at for it to work, I have no issues at all. I recorded runs that are currently on SDA with it (DLC Quest and The 4th Wall, working on a few others). It is not hard to learn how to use it, but I know others found some good cards as well.

No matter what you decided to go with, be sure your rig can handle it. Processors and ram are not a big worry, but your HD can be. I dont like the idea os using a single drive when recording. I have a dedicated drive for all my videos to be saved to. Again, others can tell you they use only a single drive. So it is all up to you.
