Tried playing some Little Nemo. Haven't really played it since ESA.
Did two runs, got a 24:50. Not bad, not good. Definitely gonna be in shape for the marathon.

So, I figure this is the best place to put this post... http://communityrouteplanning.wordpress.com/2013/09/30/what-makes-a-great-marathon-run/

See particularly the bit on commentary. Not everyone thinks to practice this!

Good post indeed; however, I will stick to my guns on Kids mode for Viewtiful Joe *thumbs up* Cheesy  At least for now.....
Time to Slam Jam
I've been working on other speedruns at the moment besides Barkley since August. There has been route changes since then though, where now the game is less dangerous due to RNG of one particular boss at the start of the run. So I'll be looking into the new route and see if it can lower time as well make the run safe as a whole.

http://www.twitch.tv/lazerlong/c/2153892 - Estimated time with this route change and perfect RNG leads to possible 50:XX run.
Worthless categories WR master
Instead of going for WR attempts in my Minecraft practice, I'll try to get my runs as consistent as possible so that no matter what happens I don't do over 25 minutes. Hopefully I could maybe take it down to no more than 20 (!)
um yeah I got X4 locked down both characters. I am sure this is not much of a shock.
Since a new glitch was found in Monkey ball 2 the story ode has gotten crazy low. Currently the WR is 26:54 by Diddykong14 and my current PB is 27:36. I hope to have this down to 27:10 or lower soon!
Alright Got a BL2 run that twitch didn't eat! RTA was 2:38:03.24 plenty under estimate Cheesy

Starts at around 45 min in,

Right now, I'm working on figuring out which scenarios are actually marathon safe, rather than seeing which can be blitzed through at top speed. So far, all of Frederick Barbarossa seems safe, with the possible exception of scenario 3, which has an element of chance (converting a building) as the main aspect of the scenario.

If a scenario is doable most of the time, and when it fails obviously does so within the first few minutes, is resetting acceptable? Or should such a scenario just be pre-rejected?

It may not matter, as I think most scenarios can be done marathon-safely within 20 minutes, but some scenarios have riskier 5-minute strategies or safer 15-minute strategies. Resetting until the 5-minute strategy works may actually be faster, but it just might not look as good for a marathon. Thoughts?

PS I will try to practice so that I can consistently do ALL the faster strategies, but this is just something that is good to know going forward.
I'm doing runs of mr. driller, getting sub 10 consistently, ill post pics in the future.

Did a moderately long stream of Star Fox 64 practice. I practiced Red Line in case speedrun gets chosen and got a 34:30 which was 18 seconds off the record (this was with no prior practice). For score I practiced main game and expert mode and got 2583 and 2613 respectively without resets. With practice these scores will go up & times will go down.

Got a 26:18 no reset of Blast Corps Any% a couple days ago (record is 25:57). I plan on improving the record by at least another 3-5s or so before AGDQ so keep an eye out for that. I'll keep you all updated.
HELLO!
Started on learning the new E.T. route this morning.  Cut 4 seconds off of my PB that way, which is nice.  Sub minute baby.

I should have no problem being in tip top shape by January. http://www.twitch.tv/presjpolk/b/466990249

been grinding small Mario runs.  They are heavy reset -  but proper  backup strats makes the run safe.  I'll be doing no reset runs closer to the marathon,  but "bad" runs that I play through usually  go around 17-18  minutes.  Not finishing a run or possibly getting yoshi as backup is no longer a concern.

Planning to do no cape no Starworld starting mid November,  up until the marathon.

Did 1 Batman run after being 2 weeks off.

Ended somewhere like 10:40-50. Didnt time it, but I could tell.

Edit: And a Ninja Gaiden Any% - 12:2x.
Did some practice today:

I had a better run (in my opinion, but not time wise), but twitch ate it.
For Fun! For GLORY!!
Have yet to get a stream going with full runs, but all my off stream runs on easy have been sub 40. Tomorrow I will literally start practicing Extreme on DT Remastered if I am to run at AGDQ.  Remember my Twitch is:

Yeah, Viewtiful Joe is one where playing on Kids actually makes the gameplay faster, right? I think that's an acceptable situation. The main thing I wouldn't want to see is a game like, say, Contra 3, dumbed down to easy to save a minute or two. Nobody wants to see that.
Not a walrus
I'm pretty sure Mr K could beat Easy with nothing but his eyebrows. That would make it interesting.
oreru
been grinding SM any% pretty damn hard recently trying to improve to a :29 gametime.  dont really plan on stopping anytime soon :>
The Dork Knight himself.
I got Batman Returns pretty much on lockdown, all of my attempts (even the bad ones) are clocking in at the 14 min mark or less. Still learning the best ways to beat Golden Axe with Conan/Gilius but even bad runs clock in under 15 mins for both of them. I'll make an attempt to start streaming soon (so long as family doesn't get in the way).
I've been working hard on drilling and practice offstream for the past few days, and I should be doing more Secret of Mana runs in the next week or so.
