For those of us travelling internationally to AGDQ, I've made this seperate thread (with Uyama & Rane's blessing) to help better organise our travel. Last year lotss of us met up to travel together. 8 of us travelled together from Heathrow with others going together from elsewhere.
Firstly, finding cheap tickets:
Skyscanner is my preferred website. If you browse it in private mode/incognito you're almost guaranteed to get the cheapest tickets.
Heathrow, Schilpol & Frankfurt all fly to Dulles airport. Let me know if there are others. If you're local to any of these, travelling from that one is probably cheaper. Otherwise, take a look at Heathrow.
From Heathrow
British Airways & Virgin fly returns from there that are currently around £500+. Let me know if you find a cheaper option. You can take stopovers, but most of them have a day stopover somewhere which I'm not sure is worth the £30 you save. The current cheapest flight is at 2pm~ from Heathrow, although it was the 11:15am flight in the past so this may change. However, prices are unlikely to get down any further. I can get a discount ticket for British Airways thanks to a friend and there is a possibility that I may be able to get one or two extra for other people.
I live very near to Gatwick airport, which is Easyjet's main UK hub and I am happy to have some of you stay over on Friday night at my house. I work right next to it so I can easily pick you up in the afternoon. I'm unsure how many I can take on, but we can travel up to Heathrow the next morning using the bus (£25 one way, £40 open return). It is very likely that I can host you overnight on return as well if you need to fly home the following day.
There may be other possibilities to stay over with another person by Heathrow but I will wait for people to come forward before doing so.
From Paris/Amsterdam/Frankfurt
The cheapest I can find is to get a connecting flight from Amsterdam via Paris and a direct back. There are alternative direct flights from each airport.
Alternatives
You can get cheaper tickets to New York or maybe Boston but after factoring in the extra time and effort in getting to the busses necessary it doesn't work out much better. Getting a connecting flight internally from Boston or New York is (weirdly) more expensive in each case I've found.
Our Current (first) Plan
Well, more mine right now. I'm going for whichever return flight from Heathrow is cheapest. Leaving on Saturday the 4th and coming back on Sunday the 12th or possibly staying a little longer.

I live in Guildford, which is a £35 taxi ride away from Heathrow and can put up a couple of people for the night if need be.

Hi,
I'm from Germany and will take a flight from Frankfurt. I checked flights from FRA to IAD they are around ~700 EUR both ways and have stops in London, Paris or Amsterdam.
There are several airways flying this route such as KLM (6:55am / 10:15am ) via Amsterdam, Airfrance (10:25am) via Paris, Delta (7:50am / 10:25am) via Paris, British Airways (11:50am) via London, American Airlines (11:50am) via London, Iberia Airlines (11:50am) via London etc.
