OMG THANK YOU!!! DAMN YOU BLUE ARROW!!!!

Reviving this thread to point out a "new" addition that's actually been live for a little while, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't catch anything on fire before I officially announced it. Runners can now submit edited comments or attach torrents to runs by going to the status page for the run. Comment edits can be submitted at any time, even after the run is published, and torrents can be submitted at any time before the run is published. This functionality is also available to runners with no forum account, as they will be emailed a specially formed link to allow them to do so when their run is ready for verification.

Several people have already made use of it, so it seems to be working well. Please let me know if you spot any weirdness!

The next major feature I plan to implement that's most relevant to runners is for the queue backend to be more verbose about when the status of your run changes in some way, such as if we run across a problem that we need you to fix, or when the verification decision has been posted. Already I've added some features that make it easier for runners (and verifiers) to see comments that the admins have tagged a run with, in case there is something we need them to be aware of. Eventually the backend will automatically PM you if we tag your run with a comment that requires action on your part, such as missing or corrupt files. Hopefully soon, time permitting. Smiley
Fucking Weeaboo
I've been one to take advantage of the ability to fix comments (it's still pending I see though). Great feature to have. Smiley

Thanks UA.
Might be magic...
Awesome - really great to see new features appear so regularly. It's really making a massive difference to the processing of speedruns and I think everyone appreciates the hard work you've put in Smiley

This sounds fantastic. I hope it becomes implemented soon! Smiley

Ooh, nice! That's awesome. Smiley
Everybody's favorite monster
That is some sexy stuff.
Exoray
Comment edit requests are only going to be processed when the comments are actually needed. This so that runners may have the opportunity to submit several edits while their run is still processing. So don't be surprised if your request isn't immediately attended. This is expected.

Wow, mad good UA!  Thanks!

Eventually the backend will automatically PM you...

Is there any way to somehow link a run in verification with a specific private thread to avoid getting multiple pm's about the same run? Not sure if you already have something like this in the works, but it would be nice to have the backend use the same private thread that's originally initiated to submit the run in the first place. Actually it would help to keep everything in the same thread. My Golden Axe run took 4 private threads to get it verified and sent in.

Was this before the new automated PMs? I'm honestly surprised it took 4, even if you submitted your initial run in a PM.

Eventually the idea is to have one unified PM thread for a submission for any private discussion, pretty much what the "You can torrent your run now" thread is now except a broader scope. Any automated PMs would go there.

Possibility to getting the edit comments option for runs that have been published on SDA before the new features were added? I would LOVE to edit a few sets of run notes. I sent PMs about it before but never seen anything changed.

The only thing preventing you from doing that now is that we'd have to migrate all the existing runs into the system, which is a task we're not ready to tackle just yet. If it was a while ago, you might try PMing moooh about it.

Yes editing run comments has always been a possibility and I've done a lot of those past years. If your request is for a run present in your myruns page (i.e. a new enough run) then just use the edit comment request.
If it's older, drop me a PM and I'll see about changing it the old way.
Don't know what to speedrun :(
To edit comments you upload a text file?

I kind of expected a text box with the current comments in it that I could just make changes. Is that a planned improvement?

I originally had it as either a text box or an upload field, but the way we store the raw, unformatted comments on the backend is in a file anyway, so it made more sense to just make it a file upload only. Quite a few people send in .doc, .rtf, or even .html files, so it was easier to handle it this way. moooh almost always has to fix the formatting so editing the comments directly isn't the best idea, either.

I suppose I could optionally have a text box that it dumps into a .txt file on the other end, but adding that would be pretty low on my very long list.

Added you to the old thread and bumped it. You should have it now.

Minor update to the My Runs page, the backend can now (usually) tell when one of your torrents is completed and will list it as such.
