Ogre Battle Any% notes OL - Opinion Leader unit LL - Liberation/Shopping unit BU - Battle Unit Summoning units - stop right before the boss fight would trigger, summon units, move BU in to battle. So When I say head to boss at any point after the BU is formed, I mean do this. Buried Treasure - Could possibly be skipped, just move slightly around them instead if decide to. Reason to grab them is to look for int raising items for Muses later on. New Game Select Cards for Samurai Lord 2 reasons 1. the valkyrie that he comes with is the cheapest leader in the game for a liberation unit, so it saves money through the game. 2. Iainuki does better damage then the AOE attacks for the few bosses that the Opinion Leader gets used for. Finish Cards, turn off animations, set battle and message speeds to fastest. Castle of Warren -OL to Recruit Lans -OL to Castle, fight Warren, set tactics to weak Post Battle -Remove all units from OL unit -Disband units 2,3,4 (Warren, Lans, and Random) Reasoning: Warren and Lans get used, 4th unit means less movement required in menu to disband/modify additional units later in the game. -Add Gryphon(whichever has more hp), Warren, and Lans to the OL unit. Warren and OL in the back row, Gryphon and Lans in the front. -Create new unit with Valkyrie as leader, add a gryphon to it. Liberation/shopping unit on the cheap for speed. -End of Menuing for now Sharom -Send OL to find buried treasure in the middle of the map. -Send OL to the tree above the bridge above the boss city. If done properly, will just miss several battles as you move through -Send OL back down to fight boss, switch tactics to leader, then back to weak when he has the least hp. Sharom District -Send OL just past the buried treasure below Bah' Wahl (and through to pick it up on the way). -After OL finishes movement, send south to Boss. Same strat, leader tactics, then weak when lowest. -Deploy LL to Latingurue, purchase 4 heal, 2 revive, 6 summons, as many jokers as possible(Has been reliably 9 for me so far) -After shopping move LL South East out of the way of incoming units, I usually go past Chang' Ga. Lake Jannenia -Send OL to intersection of dark and light blue water furthest south of the tree to the right of the enemy base. (obscure directions I know, see video if need more details) -Send OL straight north to Boss, remember to advance text with cancel button so don't accidentally run away. Same tactics, Leader, then weak. -Deploy LL to hidden Temple to the far right of the map to get Rune Axe. (I still pull a tarot card here, moon will screw you over and be cause for a reset, but I think it is early enough in the run to still be worth pulling one. Personal choice basically.) Post Battle -Remove Warren and Lans from the OL. Reason: OL will no longer be fighting from here on out, will be used as a fast movement unit to summon in the BU. I found that the level difference between the Leader and Bosses from here on out made it so that he very rarely hits after this. -End Menuing Slums of Zenobia -Send OL to the upper right corner of the base Walls. Should just skip by a fight on the way in. -Send OL just north of the road/path that leads into the top of the boss castle. -Deploy LL to By' Roit to recruit Ashe -Menu: Remove Golem from Ashe's Unit -Add Warren and Lans to ashe unit. -Make Lans leader of ashe unit. -Change Ashe and one of the lvl 7 knights into Samurai. -Make Ashe Leader again (Slight stat boost for similar units.) -Formation unit to have Lans and Knight in front, Ashe, Warren, and additional Samurai in back. -Unit referred to as BU from here on out. -End Menu -Deploy BU -Use a summons to get the BU in position -Move BU to fight Boss Debonair can be a troll, this is where a lot of my runs die. Having a fool is incredibly useful, otherwise burn damage cards except judgement or sun. Island Avalon -Send OL to hidden temple in the middle of the map to recruit Aisha -Send OL north east to second temple. -Send OL to Boss -Menu: Remove Samurai from BU -Disband Aisha unit -Add Aisha to BU -Change Aisha to Valkyrie class -Back row should now have Warren, Ashe(leader), and Aisha -Equip Rune Axe on Ashe -End Menu -Deploy BU -Get Summoned, Move to Boss -Not as bad as Debonair, world or fool really not needed for Gares here. Kastolian Sea -Send OL to Ma' Aksaz to buy 1 pair of boots -Send OL to Tongaleb(Hidden City) -Send OL east-northeast to avoid a cleric on the map, then north to boss -Send LL to Hidden temple in the far north west to pick up Brunhild -Deploy BU, Summon, Fight -Not a bad boss, should go down with very little problems. Valley of Kastro -Send OL to southern temple to recruit Rauny. -Send OL to southern tip of the sand peninsula below Boss base. -Send OL to Boss, (intersection of sand and grass below the right side of the castle). -Menu: Disband Rauny unit. -Remove random knight(not Lans) from Ashe's unit. -Add Rauny to Ashe unit. -Switch Ashe and Rauny positions. Lans and Ashe front row, Warren, Aisha, Rauny back row. -End Menu -Deploy BU -Summon, Fight. -Ares is another troll. He has rediculously high evasion and hitting him reliably does not go well even with a star card. This boss fight sometimes requires two rounds of fighting. -Additional note: the sun card wrecks ninja's, so if you have one, this is a great place to use it since Rauny will finish the ninja's off with her AoE for group Exp. Side Trip for Shopping -Back to Sharom District -Use Boots to send OL to Latingurue -Buy 8 Summons -Buy 20 Jokers(Not exact, save at least 16k for unit deployment on next map.) -Return to world map. City of Milano -Send OL to Bel Chelry to recruit Tristan -Send OL south west nearly to the water, in line with enemy base. -Send OL to Boss -Menu: Disband Tristan Unit -Remove Lans and Warren from Ashe Unit. -Add Tristan and lvl 14 Cleric from Tristan Unit to Ashe Unit. -Change cleric to valkyrie. -Make Tristan Leader. -Reform Unit, Ashe and Tristan in front, Aisha, Rauny, and Valkyrie in back. -Equip Tristan with Brunhild. -End Menu -Deploy BU. -Summon, Fight Boss. -World card is highly recommended for baron Apros, priestess or emporess for healing can work as well, but is slightly more risky. -Yet another battle where Sun card is rediculous. It almost kills the minions and makes a fool card unneeded. Shangrila -Send OL to Shellmat(shop, can buy jokers here if needed.) Mostly it's just on the way and nets you a free card and more cash at the end of the stage. -Send OL to Mushatl. -Send OL to Boss -Deploy BU. -Summon, Fight. Fort Allamoot -Send OL to Minach Torahn. -Send OL to hidden temple below the mountain range. -Send OL to boss. -Deploy BU. -Summon, Fight. -This boss has high AoE damage, a world card will work here, but chances are not going to have spares. Much better to use healing cards or do a second fight instead. Dalmuhd Desert -Send OL to Kahrngarn. -Send OL north west to middle of the left side of the lake. -Send OL to Boss. -Send LL Hilzabard. -Buy Jokers here if didn't in Shangrila. Leave 18k for deployment costs. -Send LL off north to the middle of wherever you want afterwards. Reason: Liberating Hilzabard manipulates the enemy movement to the right so you can sneak OL through easier. -Deploy BU. -Summon, Fight. -Prochon is another pain the butt. He has very high evasion and is difficult to hit even with a star card(which I recommend using). All the ninja's are incredibly weak to the sun card as well. Fort Shulamana -Send OL to Ochiwalong(shop) -Buy 4 All Heal, 5 Revive (Less if you haven't used the earlier ones, want 5 total for safety). -Send OL to Temple straight west of shop. Pick up Notos sword here. -Send OL to Boss -Deploy BU -Check BU for class upgrades, Aisha should be able to upgrade to a muse here, and occasionally ashe to a samurai master. -Summon, Fight. -Previa is pretty weak to lightning, so if you have a fool card to let Tristan hit him directly, it is worth equiping the Notos(lightning element) sword that you picked up at the temple. If you don't have a fool, sun and other damage cards will be needed to take out the devils before they can get off their meteors. -Remember to replace Notos with Brunhild again on the next stage if you equip'd it. City of Xanadu -Send OL to temple in the middle of the map. -Send OL straight north till past enemies. -Send OL to boss. -Deploy BU -Summon, Fight. -Another fight where fool is good, fight is pretty easy without the muses all over. Black damage from Devil cards can work in a pinch too. Zeteginea -Send OL to Dalna -Send OL north till even with temple. -Send OL to Boss -Send LL to Haljaya -Buy Jokers, save 20k for unit deployment. -Deploy BU -Summon, Fight. -Use Cancel button to scroll text, otherwise could mess up and lose unit. -World card is practically required here. With it you take no damage, without it you will get hammered on. Temple Shalina (Last Stage, Hurray!) -Send OL to Pillary, receive a crown. -Send OL to Fanba. -Send OL to south/middle part of the mountain range east of Boss base to avoid encounters. -Send OL to Boss. -Send LL to Elsmiya(Shop) -Buy All the Jokers you can, saving just enough to deploy BU. (Haven't had it cost over 20k before, but it has been close to it, so I save 20k.) -Move LL north to hide. -Menu: Turn Nameless Valkyrie in BU back to amazon, then use crown to make her a Princess. -Make Princess Leader of the Unit. Reasoning: The named units in the back are muses, which get 1 more attack then the princess will, which means you will get more overall damage out of their higher stats. -Deploy BU. -Summon, Fight. Boss 1 - Gares -Easiest of the bunch, Sun card takes out minions, or starlight from the princess does it too. -All Heals and Revives can be used in-between battles by pausing when you get the message that the BU encounters an enemy, so heal up after. Boss 2 - Rashidi -World is great, but if he does his lifesuck move, you may need to burn extra cards OR re-summon and fight him an extra time. Again, he has very low alignment minions that a Sun card will do a ton to. Boss 3 - Diablos -Go all out on this guy. -Only damage cards that do anything to him are magician, justice and judgement. The Leader's stats are so low that the rest only do 1 to each segment. -Strangely enough a hanged man card actually makes a difference, it's not a ton, but if you have one anyways... -World and Fool are both useless, but chances are those already got used up. -Healing cards combined with emperor cards are pretty much the most effective way I have found to fight him. If you can live through all his attacks and stack on emperor cards for extra attacks on your own, it works out pretty good. -Star card makes you hit more often, kind of a no brainer. -There is one more noteworthy thing, if he does a ton of damage or kills a couple people in the first set of attacks, it can be worthwhile to retreat and come back in for a second round if you have healing items and a summons leftover. Win the Game!! Additional Notes: Being that this is for a single segment run, I expect to have to multiple fight a couple bosses throughout the run. 2 or 3 is what I have been regularly on my "decent" runs of the game. There are many different reasons that it can happen, but primarily it is going to be from missing a lot on a single boss. There are a couple of extra summon items bought on my path because of this expectation. I do know that a perfect run would 1 cycle every boss, and that would be great, but the odds of it are not great. The goal of this route is to be as fast as realistically possible, which is why I switch away from using the Lord fairly early on and switch characters out at a few points during the run. The higher level characters that are being switched to have a much higher chance to hit since they aren't 5 or 10 levels lower then the bosses they are fighting. Grystor
