The first run of each of the first four tracks actually has route planning to it: figuring out the optimal way of getting all five coins and all the emeralds in 3 laps is non-trivial, especially with the ring requirements. I can't see anything in the routing of that that I'd change.
The other five races are all about racing lines. The rest is just ring luck. (The emblems drop various amounts of rings up to 20 - or, if you're really unfortunate, a shield.)
100% is satisfied: all five races were won, and all characters were unlocked - beating Radiant Emerald in 1st place unlocks Dr. Robotnik.
