'ktwo's normal and best ending runs

Normal Ending:

Not much to say.  I noticed three things before I read the comments, and lo and behold, those three are mentioned.  Only thing I can complain about is the same thing I did before, the jumps with a block above.  Time can be saved by not building the block in front.  I think that's the next step for this run, especially given how much shorter it is from the best ending run.

Best Ending:

This game is hard.  Runner makes it seem fairly easy while doing it very quickly.  It's exactly the kind of speedrun that should be on the site.  Like in the normal ending, I think the one type of jump is possible and not terribly difficult, but given the difficulty of the run, I think it's much more acceptable to not have it here than in the normal run.

Accept to both.

Normal Ending:
Audio/Video: Fine. Though the first 5 minutes or so needs to cut out since it's just failed attempts.

Gameplay:
Not going to give a room by room analysis like I did last time, just a simple time (life) comparison.
(Rooms listed as #/# are rooms where an hourglass was picked up. The 1st # is life when the hourglass was picked up and the 2nd # is end life.)
Code:
         Old New Saved
Room 1: 8950 8990 40
Room 2: 9050 9060 10
Room 3: 7340 7340 0
Room 4: 9050 9170 120
Room 5: 8690 8700 10
Room 6: 8120 8100 -20
Room 7: 7930 8010 80
Room 13: 7970/4690 8270/4680 290
Room 14: 8130 8150 20
Room 15: 7600 7610 10
Room 21: 8490 8630 140
Room 22: 8250 8320 70
Room 23: 8750 8740 -10
Room 29: 8960 8990 30
Room 30: 8210/3290 8230/3280 10
Room 31: 7050 7130 80
Room 37: 8840 8850 10
Room 38: 6780 6790 10
Room 39: 8350 8200 -150
Room 45: 7830 7850 20
Room 46: 8580 8710 130
Room 47: 8380 8580 200
Room 48: 5310 5340 30
Solomon: 8550 8670 120
Total Life Saved: 1250

Even with the one major mistake, it's still a fairly large improvement over the other run.

Best Ending:
Audio/Video: Fine, but a few seconds needs to be cut at the very beginning since there's a reset still in the video.

Gameplay:
This is actually a very tight run. I didn't see any major mistakes, and only a few minor ones. I think the run itself IS beatable, but it would be extremely difficult to do, mostly from the fact that it would require a bit more risk in rooms that are already risky enough.

Decisions:
Normal Ending: Easy Accept.
Best Ending: Accept.

Decision: Accept

Reason: It's a ktwo nes run. Do I need another reason?

I agree that time can be saved by not creating blocks when ascending in some rooms. I think it would save around 10 seconds just in room 31. If I haven't been clear enough why I avoid using those jumps, I hope the following clip should be reason enough,

It was done on emu, which I believe makes it easier than on console. Fyi, during one week of fairly intensive playing when the normal ending run was recorded, I reached room 31 twice (of which the second time somehow went all the way to the end to become the submitted run), so a consistent method in that room is pretty mandatory for me...  But maybe I just suck at this game ? Smiley
Feel free to prove me wrong and upload a clip with a couple of completions of room 31 (the save state is attached to this post, just add .fc1 as file ending)...

[About the best ending run] I think the run itself IS beatable

Absolutely. I wanted to do so myself, but temporarily lost the motivation after finishing the normal ending run. I guess I will just have to cross my fingers for the motivation to come back some day...
