I don't know what SDA's views are on allowing a speedrun of this mod. Also, does anyone have any interest in making a run of it?
Thread title:
Stalker!
ah someone found that mod. im only interested in watching so thats no help  Undecided
I might be interested, if not for the fact that the last level annoyed the hell out of me.
I would love to see a run of it, though I haven't even finished it, I'm still stuck on level 19...
I guess the mod would be harder to run than the valve game, but I havent looked for glitches yet.
On level 18 you don't have to do the puzzle to get the cube, you can just stand on the button and make a portal on the other side of the door. I'm on level 19 too, and it's pissing me off. I don't think a speedrun of it would be accepted unless it was an 'official' mod, like those for Oblivion.
Even if it isn't accepted why not just do it for fun for masses.
Well, I'm pretty sure you need the cube from 18 for level 19. Even with the cube I never figured it out, so what I did was

Edge glitch past the first door by placing a portal parallel to it, and then went into the room up top where you need the cube (or a camera) to get past. Placed a portal on a wall, and jumped at the portal. Eventually managed to get through.

For the part with all the moving platforms that you have to jump up, I got to the top, and realized you need to incinerate the cube. Again, edge glitch saves the day. The platform things move, so you just stand on the metal part and walk straight into the platform until the glitch works. It's somewhat difficult to get it to work, though, since it's at an odd height.

I was just thinking that I could make an OoB speedrun of it that would be less than 3 minutes... or so. I checked the earliest that you can go OoB and its right once you get the fully upgraded portal gun, like, in the exact spot where you get it too. :-P. I thought the game was really frustrating and not exactly well thought out, and I would have REALLY liked to test it before it came out, because it would have made them have to spend a couple more months on it :).
My feelings on The Demon Rush
If it's not an official patch or addition then we can't allow it.

For the entire game? I doubt it could be done THAT fast...and what about loading zones?

Eh, it would be <5 minutes, but I'm assuming optimized it would be like 4 minutes. There are only 8 maps, and the only one you can't OoB on is the first one.
True, there really aren't that many maps, and it's easy to OoB on all of them. Maybe I'll just mess around and see what I can do, but I probably won't attempt the actual run.

After spending a couple hours testing things, I can successfully beat GLaDOS without fighting her, and encountering zero cut-scenes in level_08. It's rather complicated, but I might make a video of it later.

So, I made demos of my route. I don't know how long it is all together, but I'll have to capture them and put up the videos on my YouTube account sometime. Until then, I put this up because I was like WTF when I found this easter egg:

Portal Prelude - Level 04 - Badger Mushroom Easter Egg:
lol nice find. Wonder what else is hidden in Prelude?

So, I made a video of the speedrun route. It's really not that hard to get this video to be refined alot, but yeah, 4-5 minutes was a bit underestimating. 2 minutes for the elevators, first level would take about 2.5 minutes, and all the other levels, except for the last one, are between 25-45 seconds, and the last one, with some revision, would take about a minute, so total looks like around 9 minutes or so, which, I thought the time would be significantly less than Portal, but stupid cutscenes and other such things mess it up. Damn. Anyway, here's the route:

Portal Prelude - OoB Speedrun Route:
Nice GLaDOS strategy. I'm assuming that if you stay there and don't get too close then it won't trigger her to start attacking you?

Yeah, the trigger box is like a few feet in front of where I had the core. It only triggers if both you AND the core are in the trigger box. Thats why nothing happened when I was in the area at first when edge glitching into the room, or why nothing happens when the core by itself is in the room. I like how i used PORTALS to beat GLaDOS, which makes sense as opposed to getting thrown around in a telekinetic whirlwind or whatever. Most retarded boss fight ever. I must have died 10 times in a row from getting hit BY A FORKLIFT. Anyway, yeah, just avoid the trigger area with the core and you are good to go.
Holy hell yes, that boss fight was the most ridiculously retarded thing ever. I probably saved once every 2 seconds or so. Not to mention the fight lagged like hell (for me). I hated how the core got thrown into some random place and you had to manage to find it and then get it to her during all of that. Ugh.

Anyway, I'm excited to see the completed run.
Hey guys, I found this topic about a week ago and thought that I may do a non-oob speed run of prelude however it is daunting at the moment since I have no computer until the 14th of November because I am currently studying for my end of schooll exams which start in a week. I have already found many route on the test chambers along with others helping to find routes and have done speedruns on chamber 4-14 though I must update the chamber 13 speedrun with the route that demonstrate figured out using the edge glitch but I am still not sure if that counts as Oob...does it?

Anyway, I did these on time challenge on each bonus map just so I could get an understanding of what is a decent time for these chambers.

Here are the videos so far:
Chamber 4:
Chamber 5:
Chamber 7:
Chamber 8:
Chamber 9:
Chamber 10:
Chamber 11:
Chamber 12:
Chamber 13:
Chamber 14:

Enjoy.
This thread is very old, but i was thinking about doing a OoB run, using all of the new glitches found in the past weeks. What do you say? Do I have someones support?

I'd be willing to help with routing, but likely not with running. School starts back for me soon and I simply won't have enough time =/
Aah, scool just ended (while you were doing the final levels of PDPer Wink )

Ill work on the routing for the next week or so, but im not gonna run it in a quality comparable w/ PDPer xD
thx for your offer Smiley

First Route ideas:
Chamber 00: Basic Wallclimb, ill use scripts. No SDA-legal run anyway, nothing much else
Chamber 01-03: Acquire Portal gun, kill turrets (i dont think i could live long enough to let them alive), shoot orange at the rear wall (left of the entrance) clipping glitch out, shoot all the way to chamber 03 (to the pedestral with the blue gun), PQR in -> blue portal gun. Somehow finish the chamber (staying in the bottom of the elevator doesnt work TT) elevators are non-portable in Portal:Prelude -.-
The makers of this mod trolled me hard:

(noclipped into the bottom of the elevator, found out it isnt portable in the following level aswell, and saw this wonderful pic Cheesy )
Video+More routes coming up Wink

Chamber 04-07: Clipping glitch out right at the start (top right from the entrance, down in the pit) onto the top of the observation room. straight portal shot into the hallway before the elevator at the end of chamber 07, pqr. (there is a trigger to open the elevator doors at the beginning of that hallway)
Chamber 08-10: (blue) Portal to the upper step, (orange) behind the turrets, directly to the top right of the wall, jump down from the step, (blue) portal to the ground, clipping glitch to a wall above the chamber 9 elevator, portal beneath the emancipation field right before the elevator of chamber 10, pdr.

Chamber 11-12: Clipping glitch out, go here: (right of all of the chamber stuff, full awesome approved)

Just kidding Cheesy
Correct route:
Chamber 11-12: Clipping glitch out in the first room (where the orb bounces back and forth), shoot to a vertical wall on the right, shoot to the emanciation field.
Chamber 13-15: Get OoB somehow (either clipping glitch, havent found a useful location yet) or edge glitch at the right wall of the first large room. shoot a portal beneath the room in front of the final elevator, pqr, start elevator (and leave the poor turret alive xD)
