HLDQ's run with scripts

Verifier Responses

Quote:
Alrite mike so I just finished watching the HL1 Episode 1 done quick run. I gotta say, amazing stuff these guys are very good at what they do. Even read all the comments so my eyes are pretty tired wow. As far as the video, everything looks fine besides a few demo oddities, nothing too bad at all. One thing i didn't understand is the bunny hopping because i had always thought that in EP1 it was capped, so are they just using a macro like the HL2 guys or...what lol. Anyway, awesome watch, really cool tricks here. I can't wait for the EP2 run if someone decides to do one.

Superb run from start to end. My only complaint is that some shooting (especially the escort segments near the end) looked lazily done, but since this did not increase the time it took the run should definitely be accepted.

I watched this run, and in my personal opinion, it is very well done. Of course, as in almost every speedrun, there could be slight improvements, but as it stands, the run is good enough to be posted.

The run seems legit. I've watched the old run from HL Done Quick quite some time ago, and this is definitely a similar yet better speed run. With these incredibly scripted speed runs, the use of the word "cheating" is hard to narrow down. But even with the ability to climb walls and leap impossible distances, I couldn't find any evidence of game or rule-breaking cheating. Legit and impressive. Accepted.

Video/Audio = fine
No evidence of cheating.

Note there is an inconsistency which djcj noted on the forums:

"At 22:16 the HUD changes from 98|22 to 100|16, right before a nade jump."
It doesn't make any difference to the run and I think Mike gave the all clear for it anyway so that's fine.
Overall this is very well done with loads of discoveries found. It certainly carries on the path of destruction from where HL2DQ left off. I would give an in depth analysis but there's really no point noting all the little mistakes and things as the runners will know much better about that. I also think a swift verification is warranted given how long it's taken to get submitted here.
30s worth of possible improvement was suggested in the audio commentary but this run is still highly optimised and it would be a serious undertaking to try and beat it (doubt it will happen). Easy accept.

Decision: Accept

Reason: It's another quality from the HLDQ team.

Sorry this took me so long to post, I forgot about the run somehow. D:
Thread title:
Pretty scrawny verifier responses for a project this big which looks (to my admittedly non-expert eyes) like it has quite a bit of complexity. Sad Wish I'd signed up myself to verify, now. Also interesting to see the inconsistency issue isn't mentioned by the verifiers; was that sorted out before the run reached them, or only found after they responded, or were they just not on the ball?

I thought this was run by a completely different team? Unless the thread I'm looking at for HL2DQ represents an old run and not the present one, there isn't a single runner from that who also did segments for this, and vica versa. I think some of the old HL2DQ guys helped out with trick-finding, though.

EC:  Good question.  I assume they were told about it.  Because of the ruling, it's a non-issue, but yes that kind of thing is important and should not be overlooked by a verifier ...

Yes, it's a completely different HLDQ team.  Though, Mike might have been using the label as a title, like the "Supreme Court," without assuming the same people were involved.

Yes, Inexistence is a word.
Great to see this finally here :D, and that it was accepted too. Yeah, we're officially the SourceRuns team, not HLDQ :).

Must admit, I'd looked forward to a big review of the run from verifiers, but I suppose I can't complain, as it was accepted ^_^.

I spoke with Mike when the inconsistency was found, and he confirmed it was okay. I think that was before the verification occured, though I'm not sure there was anything on it in the run notes. (Look out for those run notes when this is posted guys, they're pretty detailed!)

None of the runners for HL2DQ got a segment in this run, but we had o40, LightningX and Demonstrate, who were all involved with HL2DQ helping us with the project :).

Oh, to the first verifier, there is no cap on ep1 bunnyhopping. Or rather, there wasn't one on the version of the game we played. If you were to play it on the latest steam version, bunnyhopping no longer works. Everything is on the ep2 engine, which means abh is what you'd use.

Can't wait for it to be up, thanks again guys!
So you were keeping the inconsistency?

we have lift off
Yeah the inconsistency is still there. My verifier comments were left out for some reason, not that they were particularly comprehensive though; after the comments the runners gave it seemed like there was nothing more to say (you will see what I mean when you see them!). I noted in mine that the inconsistency was allowed by Mike as it is minor and doesn't benefit them.

Sorry about that ridd3r. Added your comments to the first post. I mean, I added a secret verifier's comments. Wink
